Friday Favorites

Happy Fri-yay!  Hope you have had a terrific week!  I am going to be enjoying my extended family in town for a long weekend. It has been 10 years since we have all been together at the same time. Too long!

Here are my favorites for the week:

Trader Joe's Premium Olive Oil

This is a really good tasting olive oil, plus it is not expensive at $7.99. But the best part? It comes with a pouring spout, very handy!

Confetti Rim Margarita Glass

We are having a taco bar with all of the fixings at our house this weekend. I realized I don't own margarita glasses and found these at Pier 1. These are perfect for a party!

Duncan Hines Chocolate Almond Coffee Cake

I was looking for a new dessert recipe to make while we have company this weekend. I love devil's food cake and this looks delicious. The best part is it starts with a box cake mix so I don't have to spend all afternoon in the kitchen and miss out on the fun!



  • 1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 tbsp. instant espresso
  • ½ cup and 2 tbsp. all purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup chopped almonds
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp. salt

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a 13"x9" pan.
  • Mix together the cake mix, eggs, milk, instant espresso, and butter.
  • Spread evenly into the pan.
  • In a separate bowl mix together the flour, sugar, butter almonds and salt.
  • Sprinkle almond mixture on top of cake.
  • Bake 30 minutes until the top is golden brown.

  1. Goodness that cake sounds so good. I have never baked a cake from scratch and wouldn't want to start now so like that this recipe uses a mix. Dare I make it with us on Weight Watchers?

    1. It is a really good cake. Not sure about WW approved? But it's perfect for company because Troy & I won't eat it all. Ha!
