Grand Isle, LA

He Says....

Had the opportunity to spend some time in Grand Isle, LA this past weekend. The "Cajun Riviera" is a top fishing destination that offers so much more than just fishing...but, the fishing is my favorite!

A group of us stayed at the camp "Amazing Grace." Amazing Grace is on the water overlooking Caminada Bay. The camp was very spacious and provided some spectacular sunset views Friday and Saturday evenings.

We had several guides pick us up before Saturday morning sunrise to take us in various directions searching for speckled trout and redfish. The fishing was not exactly what I would consider "on-fire." But, we did manage a nice haul for the day!

Saturday night provided for some grilling festivities and LSU Football! The game proved to be a very exciting game with the Tigers turning down the Horns, 45-38! GEAUX TIGERS!

Sunday morning found me watching the sun rise in thigh to waist deep water as I wade fished the gulf beach. A passerby and his family snapped shot of me with the sunrise in the background. Him and his family were kind enough to share the photo with me. Shout-out of thanks to Bryan Cheramie for the awesome photo!

The surf yielded a handful of keeper speckled trout that will make for some great table fair thanks to Anne's cooking talents! There were many more smaller specks, a bunch of lady fish and one shark that kept things interesting all morning! The morning secret to success was the Egret Baits Original Vudu Shrimp used with my favorite Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Signature Series baitcasting combo.

The hardest part about going to Grand Isle is leaving! We are certainly looking forward to the next trip down there!

  3. Have a tab open to check out Amazing Grace. Reminds me of the houses we rent in Galveston. Would love to have our own someday, maybe go in on it with my girls and their husbands. Your photos are stunning. Glad you enjoyed some time fishing.
